YouTube Expands Rental Service To U.K., Offers 1,000 Movie Titles

In May, YouTube added 3,000 Hollywood blockbusters to their movie rental service in the U.S. Titles include everything from the classic Citizen Kane to newcomers Inception and The King’s Speech. In early September the video-sharing service spread their rental options to Canada where they offered local Canadian films and blockbusters alike. On Friday, YouTube has decided to take their video rental service overseas and has added over 1,000 feature-length films from Hollywood and British studios for users in the U.K.

YouTube’s U.K. offerings include the blockbuster hit the Dark Night and the cult film Reservoir Dogs as well as new releases like Hanna, Fast Five and Red Riding Hood. Because the service is launching in the U.K., you can expect many British classics like Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life and Love, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

In addition to adding over 1,000 high quality films, many movie pages feature YouTube Movie Extras with free behind-the-scenes videos, interviews with the cast, parodies and remixes from the YouTube community. YouTube plans to add more videos and features to YouTube Movie Extras to deepen the video renting experience.

If you’re in the U.K. visit YouTube’s Movie page to check out their rental options.
