Link shortener service Bit.ly
has acquired Twitterfeed,
a service that helps users automatically publish content to Twitter among other
platforms.
Twitterfeed uses the link shortener service to share content and
analyze engagements. Just last month, Twitterfeed had over 1 million
users and with this acquisition, Bit.ly hopes to bring those users more
in-depth data on their shortened links. Bit.ly is also integrating
Twitterfeed into its service.
As part of the acquisition, Twitterfeed founder Mario Menti, who
started the company as a side project in 2007, will be joining the
Bit.ly staff. We would consider this an “acqhire” since Bitl.y acquired
the company for Menti and Twitterfeed’s user base. The financial terms
of the acquisition are undisclosed.
Recently, Bit.ly added a new feature for free users that allowed them
to create
customized domain names for shortened links. Previously this was
for customers with paid accounts only.
