Twitter Hits The Big Apple, Plans To Open New York Office

Last September there were rumors that Twitter was opening a New York City office, but it never happened. This time around, tweets posted to the microblogging service dropped some major hints that the company is finally ready to make the move to the Big Apple — and they’ve already started to set up shop.
While the news isn’t officially confirmed by Twitter, Elizabeth Weil, who runs culture at the social network, has been spending a lot of time at Home Depot in New York and tweeting about it. The Twitter employee tweeted, “I never thought I’d need to find a Home Depot in NYC, but here goes nothin.”
Weil tweeted a picture of a welcome sign in the new offices.

According to All Things Digital, the new office appears to have Wi-Fi, Twitter-themed coffee mugs and a security system. Weil also seems to have a space set up on one of the office walls for a large map.
Twitter’s new offices will be near a hub of tech companies in New York. Facebook is located down the street and Google is also nearby. Spotify, which launched in the U.S. a couple of weeks ago, rents a space in Google’s offices.
