Nokia Maps hits iOS and Android

Nokia might have a hard time selling phones recently, but its mapping software has remained one of the company's strengths. Actually, that's one of the features that Microsoft plans to integrate in Windows Phone, but curiously enough, Nokia hasn't settled there and is working on an HTML5-version of Nokia Maps.

Even though it doesn't come as a native app on iOS and Android, both platforms have HTML5-enabled browsers, so now you can make use of Nokia's maps on the browser of a device featuring iOS 4.0 or higher, or an Android 2.2 or 2.3 device by just going to maps.nokia.com.

At the same time, though, HTML5 Nokia Maps is still in beta, but since its launch in April, it has undergone a couple of updates with an all-new interface and additional features. Currently, Nokia Maps allows you to see your current position as HTML5 supports positioning. You can also look up addresses or other points of interest, browse information about a place like reviews and photos, get the fastest route either travelling by car or walking, put yourself in the know about public transportation lines and share places via SMS, Facebook or Twitter.
